Autumn Term has seem some new ‘Little Dippers’ join our PreSchool, and how well they have settled in. We have had fun so far this term with teddy bear picnics, blackberry picking, painting and collage making with all the beautiful Autumn leaves and colours and as usual, lots of lovely listening and sharing by our little ones. At the end of the first half of term, the preschoolers put on a wonderful show for our mummies and daddies about ‘The Little Squirrel’.
Fundraising – Preschool held a ‘Super Daddy Day’ Breakfast on father’s day at the village hall. All the produce was locally sourced and we managed to raise a fabulous £150 for our PreSchool.
The Summer Term has started brilliantly with warm weather and eager Little Dippers! We have had 2 new children join our merry bunch and this term has seen all our little ones become keen gardeners with the introduction of ‘Paddingtons Patch’. With the help of school cook, Charlie, behind the village hall is a lovely patch of grass and we have had kind donations of tractor tyres, soil and manure to set up a veggie plot for PreSchool.
Each week the children go down to the hall and things are growing nicely already.
This term has seen the start of ‘Little Dippers’, Diptford PreSchool extend our sessions to Thursday’s as well as Friday’s. Lots of activities as always:-
We’ve looked at shapes, been on a sound hunt, created sparkling collages and measured ourselves on the lighthouse height chart. We have had a ‘Good Manners Day’ with lots of ‘please’, ‘thank you’ and ‘excuse me’ etc. We’ve introduced the children to a little bit of dough-gym. Dough-gym uses Playdough and music to encourage the childrens uses of their fine & gross motor skills and muscles, using their arms, wrists, hands and fingers in various ways while manipulating the dough. We’ve had playtime in Class 1, outside and in the Den and had our regular library visits for books. We’ve also been trying hard as always with sharing and taking turns. We know that ‘sharing is caring’ at Diptford.
This term has had lots going on, the preschool children have enjoyed tennis with Tim, the tennis coach, they made bird feeder and bird cakes, listened to the Gruffalo Story and even made Gruffalo cakes out of chocolate playdough.
When the leaves started to fall, they made beautiful collages with all the different colours and shapes and enjoyed lots of outdoor play when the sun shone, on the pedal bikes and even ventured down to the stream area when Class 3 were having outdoor learning with Mr Moore from Forest & Beach.
This week, Diptford School made an Keyhole African Garden which the Preschoolers have found extremely interesting! So much so, they had a go themselves and created their very own African Garden, have a look! The Preschool children have been enjoying the glorious sunshine here at Diptford. They have had fun in the Yurt and had great fun Den building in the field
PreSchool children were invited by the rest of the school to join in with the Easter celebrations and got creative with their beautiful Easter Bonnets. We have had lots of fun so far this term at Diptford PreSchool, outside and inside. Here are a selection of photo’s capturing those great moments PreSchool joined the rest of Diptford School in their Sports Relief challenge and activity day Friday 21st March. The sun shone and some neat footwork and throwing were displayed.
Autumn Term 2013
This Autumn we have been ‘Grey squirrels’ looking for acorns and playing ‘hunt the acorn’ game; we’ve made Autumn paintings and collages, learning how to be great listeners; we’ve learned lots of new songs and had fun with bubbles too . We’ve also been busy settling into the new routines of the pre-school. We have been getting into the festive spirit and making Santa Advent Calender’s and having lots of outside time making fish pie in the Forest School mud kitchen area. The Preschool children had a wonderful time when they joined the Reception children at Pennywell Farm for their Christmas Nativity Event, where they got to dress up and be part of the show themselves!
Spring Term 2013
We have been exploring our Environmental Learning Area with Foundation children. It snowed and the the children made snowmen and decided to make snowballs and see if they would float. We also went on an adventure along the stream and built our first campfire in our new fire pit.
